Study Spaces
After the success of last year’s publicised revision spaces within the building we have opened Beacon Bar up again every day of revision and during exams from 9am to 5pm. We have also worked with the Library to maintain our study spaces map which has already received over 5000 views!
Wellbeing Events
The Wellbeing Committee is running a variety of events during revision week, which can be viewed by clicking on the below right image.

10 Years of On the Rocks Festival
On The Rocks (Scotland’s largest student-run Arts Festival) celebrated its tenth anniversary last week. The festival incorporates art, photography, film, theatre, dance, fashion, music and comedy into its ten day line-up and this year the students aim was to make it bigger, more inclusive and more diverse than ever before. By collaborating with a multitude of societies, it meant they were able to host over fifty different events!
On The Rocks also worked with Alumni Festival Weekend to host a ‘Creativity in Industry’ panel, as well as with Saints LGBT+ which meant they could include the annual PRIDE parade in the Festival line-up, an event which was really well attended.
Some of the highlights of the Festival included 'The Physicists/-Die Physiker' a play which was performed in its original German with members of the audience being able to follow along with English subtitles. The play sold out both nights of the run in the Barron Theatre. 'Served On the Rocks: a Cocktail Making Class' which was thoroughly enjoyed by those who attended. Proof that there is creativity in every discipline, groups were instructed in the art of concocting four cocktails from the Beacon Bar’s menu, as well as given the opportunity to devise a cocktail of their own making!
Additionally, the Just So Society hosted a masterful adaptation of Sondheim’s 'Sweeney Todd', which went up for three nights in the Byre Theatre.
For the first time, On the Rocks hosted events in seemingly unconventional spaces; with Bio Soc and African Caribbean society making use of St Andrews’ beaches to hold their respective events on West Sands and Castle Sands, demonstrating that, if you have the will-power, the world truly is a stage.
They celebrated the end of their 10th year with festival favourite, the Ceilidh in the Castle, followed by closing drinks in The Adamson Restaurant Bar. Despite running at a busy time in the academic calendar, the events were really well-attended by the St Andrews community of students, residents and alumni.
Photos below are from the excellent "On the Rocks: a Cocktail Making Class" which was hosted by Association bar staff in Beacon Bar. For more photos of the week click here.

Updates in and around the building
Café Revision Special
We’re well aware that no-one gets enough sleep when it’s revision time, that’s why Rector’s Café is offering hot drinks deals from 7pm every day during revision week and the Old Union Coffee Shop is doing a deal between 4pm and 5:30pm on takeaway hot drinks… Because nothing says we care more than coffee! Did we mention we are now using compostable cups too?
