SRC

Student Representative Council (SRC) is the legally recognised body for student representation for the University, through the Universities (Scotland) Act 1889. The SRC is made up of all the Sabbs and over 20 part-time officers. It acts as a communication channel between students and the University, and sets positions on student representation matters (and sometimes national and international matters where they affect students). Motions are debated and voted on at SRC meetings, which occur throughout the semester.

In the past, we’ve seen motions about:

  • Changes to subcommittee constitutions and introduction of officer roles
  • University strike action
  • Local issues (opposition to Fife Council HMO ban, Kenly wind farm, out-of-hours service at Community Hospital)
  • International issues (Israel & Gaza, Ukraine)

If you wish to find out more about how to submit an SRC motion as an SRC officer, please see the Union 101 training. If you are an ordinary student, please see the above section about petitions, as you can only submit motions to SRC via petition.
