Posters & Leaflets
In addition to social media, you might want some physical materials to distribute at events or at stalls. Your materials should be informative about the issue, your campaign aims, and signpost to support resources where relevant.
The Students’ Association’s Design & Marketing Team may be able to help you with printing your leaflets, though there will be costs attached. Reach out to [email protected] for more information.
‘Flyposting’ is illegal, and is where people put posters/leaflets/other printed material in public places (such as lampposts, noticeboards, walls) without permission. It is usually cited as illegal on environmental grounds, and seems to be fairly well policed in St Andrews. You can still put posters on noticeboards or in shop windows with permission from the owner/relevant person. You can also give leaflets out at stalls or at events (see below).
- Do
- Use the leaflet/poster to inform about your campaign aims and the issue you are campaigning about
- Have a QR code with links to your wider campaign or other resources
- Use accessible colours and fonts
- Recycle when you’re done and encourage others to do the same (maybe put a note to recycle on the leaflet).
- Don't
- Don’t use offensive language or imagery
- Put posters up without permission (you can put posters up in the Union, in your School etc, just ask)
