Events

Hosting events can be a good way to bring attention to the issue you are campaigning about. It can also be an opportunity to educate people on the subject matter, and/or bring together like-minded individuals.

Some events which might be particularly useful could be:

If you are going to hold an event, you will need to consider the best venue, its capacity, and accessibility. If you are considering hosting your event at the Students’ Association, you can take a look at the list of spaces, and email [email protected] to enquire, or use Resource Booker if you are a society or subcommittee. If a University space will be more appropriate, you can use Resource Booker, or email [email protected]. Be sure to book in advance to avoid disappointment.

You will need to complete a Union risk assessment if you are part of a Union student group (subcommittee or society). If in doubt as to whether you should submit a University or Union risk assessment, email [email protected] and they can advise. If you have already submitted a Union General Risk Assessment but didn’t include this event you can submit a Supplemental Risk Assessment. You must submit your completed risk assessment at least 2 weeks before your event, by emailing [email protected]. If you anticipate your event may have more than 100 attendees, you will need to fill out a Union Major Events Checklist, and likewise submit it to [email protected]. You can refer to the Events Safety page on the Students’ Association website for more information.
