Alumni

We connect our global alumni to St Andrews, and current students with alumni.

Our committee runs to connect our global alumni to St Andrews, and current students with alumni. The sense of community at St Andrews is something which the University prides itself on, and we want to ensure that this feeling can be sustained during your time as a student, and throughout your life afterwards. With such an impressive cohort of alumni year upon year, our committee aims to ensure that St Andrews can continue to give back to alumni, and that they can help current students wherever possible. Whether it be through careers advice, inspiring students with talks or life advice, we feel that our alumni are an invaluable part of the University even if they are not here in person.

Both curricular and extra-curricular activities contribute in different ways to making each student's St Andrews experience unique. For that reason we are also looking forward to supporting, and collaborating with societies and University departments who want to reconnect with alumni or establish alumni-focused events.

We've put together a summary of all the ways our Alumni can get involved with students, check it out below!

Alumni- How to get involved

SaintConnect

SaintConnect is a resource for St. Andrews students and graduates to meet and learn from one another. Its functions include facilitating conversations, mentorships, and more with a LinkedIn style platform just for the University of St. Andrews.

Keep in touch with your Societies!

If you would like to keep in touch with societies of which you were a member throughout your time in St Andrews, find them on this page to get contact details and social media links!

Or use this link to sign up for alumni communications from the societies in which you participated!

Work Shadowing Programme

The University of St Andrews Careers Centre organises a Work Shadowing Programme whereby alumni, friends and staff of the University offer the opportunity for students to shadow them at their place of work. These shadow periods come in many forms, ranging informal chats over coffee to a day or more shadowing someone in the workplace and are a wonderful way for our alumni to offer guidance for students!

All work shadowing opportunities will take place virtually because of COVID-19

Coffee Connect

A University meet-and-greet service managed through the Careers Centre. Sign up and be matched with people with similar professional interests to make friends and get advice. Available digitally, as well as in person when COVID protocol permits.

Santander Internships and Employ Autism

This new programme aims to ensure more autistic students have access to meaningful employment experiences. It will also ensure local businesses can benefit from neurodiverse talent within their workforces.  The University of St Andrews will also work with employers to secure opportunities for our students to take part in internships with autism-confident businesses. In providing valuable ‘on the job’ experience in a supportive environment, employers will also gain a positive contribution to their business from our fantastic student community.

CareerConnect- Alumni

St Andrews alumni within three years of graduation can register for CareerConnect and use their details to log in. Through CareerConnect, you can book appointments with Careers Advisors, search for vacancies, and register for events.

Offer an internship

Our students are eager to gain experience within organisations to make a positive impact and contribution. The Careers Centre wants to ensure their aspirations are supported. To raise awareness of international opportunities for students, we are looking to our alumni!  If you have, or know of, a paid internship or opportunity within your organisation that you can share with our students, or, can offer exclusively to students within the St Andrews University community, please contact us.
