As we move through Semester 2 we thought an update on Club 601 would be welcome.

We can confirm that all RAAC has now been removed from the venue. This has been a mammoth task. The roof covering and insulation were stripped off to allow for the removal of the RAAC.

The RAAC was supported from underneath with scaffolding. Walkways were created to allow safe working on top of the RAAC.  Once removed the RAAC was taken to a high-level loading bay then taken to ground level by telehandler and placed in a large skip for disposal!

Now for the exciting bit... we can look forward to putting The Stage and Club 601 back together again! The whole space will be refreshed. Updated bar designs have been signed off and the venue will be kitted out with a brand-new sound system. A working group has been created to plan for our opening next academic year and we’ll soon be looking to get your ideas for the events you’d like to see in the club!
