St Andrews Freshers 2024

GET INVOLVED

There's a huge number of ways you can get involved with life in St Andrews and Your Union.

SOCIETIES

We have over 140 affiliated societies to Your Union. They run all kinds of activities, covering almost anything you can think of! Whether you're interested in dancing, dog walking, or debating we've got something for you.

Your Union Subcommittees

Subcommittees are like “super” societies, funded directly by the Union, that all students are automatically members of.

Our Students’ Representative Subcommittees represent the diverse student community in St Andrews, such as the Community Relations and Disabled Students’ Network

Our Activities Subcommittees provide a wide range of activities for students, such as Mermaids – our own theatre group, STAR – St Andrews Student’s own radio station, Ents – run events in the Union.

FRESHERS' FAYRE

Thinking about joining a group but not quite sure what on yet? Visit the Fayre to talk to student groups directly and sign-up to give-it-a-go sessions.

Tuesday 10th, from 11am – 5pm (quiet hour 11am – 12 noon).

BE A CLASS REP

Even if you’re a first year you can still become a Class Rep. Class Reps raise issues and create solutions with staff, they help plan events and socials for their School, and they learn about the inner workings of academia and student leadership.

ELECTIONS

Run or simply vote in our elections. The Students’ Association Elections run in March. A process where you vote in your Sabbatical Officers, Student Representative Council Officers, School Presidents, and Trustees. It’s your chance to decide who speaks for you.

OUR EVENTS

We run lots of regular events to cater for everyone. From Tuesday Karaoke nights to Friday Bops. Events are a great way to meet new people. Purchasing a Platinum Pass is the cheapest and easiest way to enjoy nights out at the Union.
