The Accidental Death of an Anarchist is a farcical dark comedy based on the true story of the 1969 Piazza Fontana Bombing, in Milan, and the consequent death of the falsely accused Giuseppe Spinelli, while under questioning by the Italian police. The play follows as a sardonically witty character known only to us as the "Maniac" infiltrates police headquaters, adopting several disguises in order to outwit and ridicule the officers present at the time of the anarchist's "accidental" death. With every bitterly funny line and absurd premise, the Maniac bids the audience question the respectability of an instituion capable of such corruptuion. Who, in the end (if anyone) will take responsibility for the anarchist's death?
