Music Fund is dedicated to fostering the music scene in St Andrews, whether it be through organising gigs, providing funding for aspiring musicians, or working with other societies. Come jam with us!
At Music Fund we are dedicated to fostering the local music scene in St Andrews– hosting events, building musical connections, and supporting student musicians with equipment loans, gig/recording opportunities, and halls music rooms renovations. As a Subcommittee of the Students' Association, we serve all matriculated students– we're here to help your musical dreams come true!
Supporting student music
We offer opportunites for student musicians to perform in St Andrews. We hold regular open mic nights, where artists can showcase their own music or play covers for an audience. We also host songwriting workshops, where you can bring out your creativity and meet like-minded musicians looking to form bands. We also hold less regular large Union events, like our Battle of the Bands hosted in Club 601.
We provide opportunities to record in the Music Centre as part of our Sounds of St Andrews project; to sign up for slots, find the link on our Facebook. We also work to improve music rooms in student halls, and offer loan instruments for students to use for gigs. To find out more about how we can serve you, email us at MusicFund@.
An important part of our role is also to facilitate venue and equipment hire, by providing funds and support for student musicians. If you are in need of equipment or would like to financially partner to run a gig, get in touch!
Gigs
Since its inception, one of Music Fund's key roles has been to arrange and publicise gigs to serve the local music scene. If you are a musician looking to perform, feel free to reach out!
In the past, our professional bookings have been likes of Boddika, Mungo's HiFi, Machines in Heaven, Messenger Sound System, Meursault, The Badwills, and many others. Our student musician gigs have hosted dozens of student bands; check out our Facebook for details of what bands are playing at our next events!

Get Involved
We are always looking for enthusiastic students who are eager to get involved, and help us make the St Andrews music scene as vibrant and inspiring as possible. Applications for our subcommittee are almost alway open; drop us a line at MusicFund@ to find out more. Our weekly meetings are also open to all matriculated students.

This group is a Union subcommittee, not a society, so everyone's automatically a member!
