Student Excellence Awards 

These awards are shortlisted by members of the Association Executive team. 

John Honey Award

The John Honey Award is given to one student every year who makes an outstanding and exceptional contribution to student wellbeing during their time at St Andrews. Whilst this does not have to necessarily mean saving someone's life, the award will only be given out to a student who makes an extraordinary contribution to student wellbeing. 

This award is shortlisted by the Director of Wellbeing and Equality and the Director of Student Development and Activities.

The President's Award

The President’s Representation Award is given to one student every year who makes an outstanding and exceptional contribution to student representation during their time at St Andrews.  

This award is shortlisted by the Association President and the President of Postgraduate Taught Students.

Elsie Howie Award

This award recognises one student each year who makes an outstanding and exceptional contribution to equality, diversity and inclusion during their time at St Andrews.  

This award is shortlisted by the Director of Wellbeing and Equality and Director of Education.

Bruce Turner Activities Award

This award recognises one student each year who makes an outstanding and exceptional contribution to the activities and events that enhance the student experience during their time at St Andrews.  

This award is shortlisted by the Director of Student Development and Activities and the Director of Events and Services.

Dr. Norman Scott Kemp Award

The Dr. Norman Scott Kemp Award is given to one student every year who makes an outstanding and exceptional contribution to postgraduate student representation, activities or communities during their time at St Andrews.  

This award is shortlisted by the President of Postgraduate Researchers and the President of Postgraduate Taught Students.

Proctor's Award

The Students' Association, in partnership with the University, established the Proctor's Award to recognise the commitment of any student towards working in partnership with the university to enhance learning and teaching at St Andrews. The Proctor's Award will appear on a student's HEAR transcript. 

This award is shortlisted by the Director of Education, the President of Postgraduate Researchers, and the Proctor of the University of St Andrews.

Rector's Award

This award honours students who have made a significant positive impact through their activism during their time at St Andrews University. The selection will be based on the demonstrated influence of their efforts, particularly in fostering a more inclusive, accessible, and welcoming university environment. This award celebrates individuals whose work has enhanced access to education, culture, or other opportunities, particularly for marginalised groups. It highlights those who have actively advocated for and supported individuals from underrepresented communities, driving meaningful change within the university.                

This award is shortlisted by the Association President and the Rector of the University of St Andrews.
