The Students' Association exists to further the interests of students here in St Andrews and it is the job of the Societies Committee to achieve this by supporting student societies in the efforts to enrich the student experience.
We aim to achieve this by offering affiliated societies four key things:
-Funding: grants, loans...
-Fairness: (mostly so we can keep giving you money as a charity) fair elections, auditing...
-Facilities: insurance, free room bookings...
-F...Representation: resolving issues with the University, the local community...
If you are thinking of affiliating, please note the following things:
-We cannot affiliate a society which intends to do somethings which another society already does because the Association is a charity and this would be viewed as a waste of money under charities law, so please make sure you will not clash with another society's aims set out in their constitution please look at the A-Z list of societies and get in touch with ones that may concern you.
-You must have at least 25 paid members
-Ordinary membership of your society has to be open to all students; other people can join only as ordinary members.
