Meet people, do stuff.
Love

The Love Society is a space for the unabashed discussion, experience, and spreading of love as an otherwise taboo topic. We recognize any experience of love is important because it is your own.

The Love Society is a space for the unabashed discussion, experience, and spreading of love as an otherwise taboo topic. Despite love being a universal human experience which is accepted as magical and transcending in various senses, it is not widly accepted as a serious topic of discussion both in an academic and social sense. What the Love Society aims to provide is a place for students, both Undergraduate and Postgraduate, to explore love in solidarity with one another as human beings. The unique nature of love as an individual experience which is valued, rather than devalued, in its diversity means that the Love Society is a space which requires intersectional and comprehensive membership. Your experience of love is important and special because it is your own and only more powerful because others love too. We recognize that love is a heavy topic, but we also recognize that it doesn't need to be a distant and detached heavyness. We choose to love and hope you do to! Please feel free to join any of our events and discussions.

We hold several discussions on various aspects of love per month. Some of our past discussions have looked at the intersection of love and community, love and transcendance, and love and lack of love. These discussions are non-hierarchical and are intended to flow more as a group conversation rather than an academic discussion.

Please check out our website for more information on upcoming discussions and events. While we encourage in person communication for the normalization of love in the public sphere, we also recognize that finding love is a deeply personal and vulnerable journey which is why we have suggested readings, wellness resources, and various other support structures on our website.

If you have any questions, suggestions, or would like to collaborate please reach out to our Head Discussion Facilitator, Martin Ladekarl, at [email protected] or our Outreach Officer, Kathryn Rauh, at [email protected].
